Phnom Penh – The Cuban embassy in Cambodia marked International Women’s Day with a gathering that also focused on the Cuban Five, the anti-terrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the United States.
The meeting, held on March 6, gathered women leaders from government and social organisations. It was addressed by both the ambassador and consul of Cuba and by Nin Saphon, a member of the National Assembly and president of its Cambodia-Cuba Friendship Group.
In his brief talk, the ambassador stressed “solidarity with the cause of our five prisoners in the US” and with their “families, wives, mothers, daughters and sisters”.
The Sixth Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of Solidarity with Cuba will be held here March 22-25.
